Abstract
The author explores the difficulties he could experience as a disabled person during a natural disaster. He describes people with disabilities' options for survival, including evacuation to another state and institutionalization. He discusses a 2023 National Council on Disability report on the effects of extreme weather events on people with disabilities and a study by Angela Frederick of the University of Texas at El Paso on the impact of Winter Storm Uri on the disabled in Texas.
