Abstract
The article focuses on the financial performance of French energy supplier Engie SA, which reported a 19% decline in first-half profit due to lower prices, reduced market volatility, and decreased nuclear and hydropower generation. Net recurring income fell to €3.1 billion ($3.54 billion) from €3.8 billion the previous year, although the company maintained its full-year targets despite economic uncertainties. Contributing factors included the permanent shutdown of the Doel 1 reactor in Belgium and weaker hydro output in France. Engie is actively investing in renewable energy sources and has formed a joint venture with the Belgian government to extend the operation of the country's remaining nuclear reactors.
