Abstract

BP Plc has exited one of its gas fields in Senegal due to a disagreement with the Senegalese government over the use of the gas. While BP wanted to export the gas, Senegal wanted to use it domestically for power plants. Senegal sees the gas field as crucial for its gas-to-power strategy and plans to accelerate development to deliver gas by 2026. Dallas-based Kosmos Energy LLC has increased its stake in the project, while Senegal is looking for a third partner to take a stake in the production phase. [Extracted from the article]
