Abstract
CEZ AS, a Czech power utility, has chosen Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc as a potential supplier of small modular reactors (SMRs) as part of the country's shift towards nuclear energy. The Czech Republic, a landlocked country with limited options for wind and solar energy, sees nuclear power as a way to phase out coal and meet climate targets. SMRs can be built in factories and assembled on-site, reducing construction times. This partnership with Rolls-Royce would be the country's first SMR project. The cost estimate for the project has not been provided. [Extracted from the article]
