Abstract

The article focuses on the economic impact of the escalating conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel on global energy markets. It highlights the strategic importance of the Middle East, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas shipments pass daily, making the region critical to global energy supply. The conflict has caused significant volatility in crude oil prices due to supply disruptions, increased risk premiums, and higher insurance costs for maritime shipping, all of which contribute to rising fuel prices and inflationary pressures worldwide. Additionally, the tensions have prompted shifts in global energy trade flows as countries seek alternative suppliers, further affecting transportation costs and economic stability. The article underscores how geopolitical instability in energy-producing regions can have broad and lasting economic consequences beyond the immediate military conflict. [Extracted from the article]
