Abstract

This study assesses the knowledge of renewable energy (RE) resources among undergraduate engineering students at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Using a 19-item online questionnaire completed by 153 students, the research found that participants generally possess a good understanding of various RE topics, including solar, geothermal, wind, and biogas energy, as well as related laws and policies in Bangladesh. Female students demonstrated slightly higher knowledge levels than males, and third-year students showed the greatest understanding compared to other study years. The study highlights the need for enhanced curriculum design and educational interventions to address remaining knowledge gaps and better prepare future engineers for advancing renewable energy in Bangladesh.
