Abstract

This study deals with an investigation of self-focusing of cosh-Gaussian laser beams with two polarization modes as extraordinary (E-mode ) and ordinary (O-mode ) with absorption coefficient and decentred parameter in magnetized plasma. The authors in this study believe that nonlinear dielectric constant of plasma medium is primarily triggered by the ponderomotive mechanism. Further, the nonlinear coupled differential equations for beam width parameters in both the x and y dimensions of the beams are derived using Wentzel–Kramers–Brillouin (WKB) and paraxial approximations (PRA) with a parabolic equation approach. The relationship between beam width parameters and dimensionless distance of propagation is visually depicted using various plasma parameters as well as those from the general beam family. Moreover, the effects of absorption, polarization modes, and the decentred parameter highlight the complexities of beam width parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
