Abstract

BHE Montana has begun construction on the Glacier Battery System, a 75-megawatt battery with two hours of energy storage in Cut Bank, Montana. The battery system aims to enhance the stability of the energy grid in the West and support BHE Montana's renewable generation assets. Montana Governor Greg Gianforte expressed gratitude to BHE Montana for investing in the state's communities and improving grid reliability. The Glacier Battery System will be operational by the end of 2025 and will be connected to the Montana-Alberta Tie Line. BHE Montana also operates wind and solar generation projects in the region.
