Abstract
The article focuses on the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority’s (NEPRA) announcement of a positive quarterly tariff adjustment of Paisa 35 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025-26, to be recovered from electricity consumers between March and May 2026. This adjustment, totaling Rs8.674 billion, is attributed to changes in capacity charges, operation and maintenance costs, fuel cost adjustments, and other factors, and will apply uniformly across most consumer categories except lifeline, prepaid, and incremental consumption package users. NEPRA also mandated that the adjustment apply to K-Electric consumers and instructed power distribution companies (DISCOs) and related entities to comply with court orders, submit timely adjustment requests, and provide detailed sales and demand data to support future tariff assessments.
