India and Nepal ink MoUs on cross-border energy and connectivity.

Abstract

June 02 -- The Government of India on 1 June, 2023 signedseveral memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with theGovernment of Nepal, for projects which includes a secondintra-country petroleum pipeline, conclusion of a revisedtrade and transit agreement, new joint hydropower projectsand a long-term power trading agreement in the powersector, along with a fertiliser plant in Nepal. Together with Nepal Prime Minister Pushp Kumar Dahal'Prachanda', PM Narendra Modi also launched severalprojects through joint inauguration and presided over theexchange of MoUs and agreements, which includes a projectdevelopment agreement (PDA) of 669 MW Lower ArunHydroelectric Project between SJVN and Investment Board ofNepal, and the development of infrastructure at DodharaChandani check post along the Indo-Nepal Border.
