Abstract

Geothermal energy accounts for almost half of Kenya's total energy production. At the end of last year, Kenya ranked seventh on the list of top geothermal energy countries in the world. Today, Naivasha's Olkaria geothermal power project plus a small facility at another site are capable of generating 963 megawatts of electricity when running at full power. A push toward geothermal energy in recent years has come as droughts have dwindled some of Kenya's hydropower sources. [Extracted from the article]
