Abstract
Burkina Faso's military leader, Ibrahim Traore, has appointed Yacouba Zabre Gouba as the new mining and energy minister, replacing Jean-Pierre Boussim. This decision comes after Burkina Faso revised its mining code to allow for higher royalties during periods of increased gold production. Gold output in the country decreased by 13% in 2022, leading to the closure of five mines due to security concerns and two coups. Additionally, Karamoko Jean Marie Traore has been appointed as the new foreign minister, replacing Olivia Rouamba. [Extracted from the article]
