Abstract

This article focuses on a study from the Harbin Institute of Technology in the People's Republic of China investigating the non-visual effects of artificial light illuminance and correlated color temperature (CCT) on human alertness and mood at different times of day. The research involved 20 healthy adults exposed to varying lighting conditions in a simulated office environment, measuring responses through psychological and physiological assessments. Findings indicate significant interactions between illuminance and CCT, with specific combinations enhancing alertness in the morning and positive mood in the afternoon, while behavioral performance remained unchanged. The study highlights the importance of considering illuminance, CCT, and time of day in indoor lighting design to support human health and productivity. [Extracted from the article]
