Abstract

The article focuses on a study examining the motivations of early-specialized aesthetic athletes in Sweden, particularly in the context of sports psychology. Conducted by researchers from the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, the study involved interviews with ten high-level athletes aged 18-24, including figure skaters and gymnasts. The analysis revealed that these athletes maintained a foundational theme of sustained autonomous motivation throughout their training, despite experiencing external pressures during adolescence. The findings support a multifaceted perspective on motivation in the context of early specialization in sports. [Extracted from the article]
