Abstract
This article focuses on research examining the effects of nature exposure on children's mental health and psychological development, particularly its potential to reduce disparities between disadvantaged and advantaged groups. The study, conducted by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, reviewed 123 empirical articles and found growing evidence supporting an "equigenic effect," where nature experiences help disadvantaged children achieve psychological outcomes similar to their advantaged peers. While most studies showed positive findings, some results were mixed, and the research highlights the need for increased nature exposure through daily routines and equitable access. The findings suggest that nature-based interventions may promote greater equity in children's psychological well-being. [Extracted from the article]
