Abstract
This article focuses on a decolonial theatre-based research project in Quebec that engaged Indigenous female college students in the collective theatricalization of their life stories to support their holistic wellness, encompassing intellectual, physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. Rooted in Indigenous pedagogy and narrative sovereignty, the project involved two groups of students from diverse Indigenous Nations who created a theatre play and a documentary, integrating traditional knowledge, languages, and cultural practices such as smudging and talking circles. Preliminary findings indicate that this artistic approach fostered cultural expression, resilience, social connection, and spiritual engagement, contributing to participants' well-being and academic perseverance amid systemic colonial challenges. The research follows guidelines for Indigenous-led methodologies and offers recommendations for culturally safe artistic educational initiatives with Indigenous youth and adults in post-secondary settings.
