Abstract
The article focuses on two qualitative studies related to pharmacy education and patient medication adherence. The first study explores stakeholder and student perspectives on redesigning the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) curriculum at Newcastle University, identifying key themes such as course content, teaching and assessment methods, and barriers to implementation. Emphasis was placed on enhancing training in diagnostic skills, mental health, and managing complex patient needs, with practical placements and problem-based learning favored despite concerns about placement capacity. The second study uses narrative analysis to understand patients' experiences taking medication for secondary prevention after acute myocardial infarction, revealing that patients initially follow prescriber instructions with limited control but gradually collaborate with healthcare providers to manage side effects and integrate medication into daily life. Both studies highlight the importance of individualized approaches—whether in education or patient support—to improve outcomes.
