Abstract
This article focuses on the creation of the EVApeCognition Dataset, the largest open-access compilation of great ape cognition studies, developed through a collaboration led by the University of Stirling and the Max Planck Institute. The dataset integrates 262 experimental datasets from 150 publications, involving over 80 great apes studied across nearly two decades, to advance understanding of the evolutionary origins of human intelligence. By standardizing and aggregating data from numerous small-scale studies, the resource aims to support research and education in psychology, biology, and human evolution. The dataset, published alongside a dedicated GitHub repository, is expected to facilitate long-term and comparative analyses of great ape cognition and inspire similar collaborative efforts in the scientific community.
