Abstract
This article focuses on the role of sexual excitation and inhibition, assessed by the Sexual Inhibition/Sexual Excitation Scale (SIS/SES), in predicting therapeutic outcomes in women with female sexual dysfunction (FSD). The study involved 66 women and found that sexual excitation correlated with positive sexual function parameters, while sexual inhibition related to psychological distress and relationship conflicts. Distinct associations were observed between excitation/inhibition and Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) depending on menopausal status, leading to proposed cut-off scores on the SIS/SES scales for identifying HSDD. These findings suggest that measuring excitation and inhibition can aid in diagnosing FSD and tailoring personalized treatment strategies.
