Abstract
The article focuses on research investigating the effectiveness of group cognitive behavioral therapy (GCBT) and group schema therapy (GST) for treating social anxiety disorder (SAD) and avoidant personality disorder (AVPD) in a sample of 154 patients. The study aimed to identify moderators and mediators of treatment outcomes over 30 weekly sessions, finding significant improvements in both therapies at 3 and 12 months post-treatment, but no significant differences between the two modalities. The research concluded that the examined patient characteristics did not inform treatment decisions, and mediation analysis did not reveal different underlying processes between GCBT and GST. Financial support for the study was provided by the Mind Science Foundation. [Extracted from the article]
