Abstract

The article focuses on the Northwest Public Health & Primary Care Leadership Institute, a seven-month hybrid curriculum launched in 2020 to enhance collaboration between public health and primary care sectors in the U.S. Northwest region. Developed through a partnership between the University of Washington's Northwest Center for Public Health Practice and the Northwest Regional Primary Care Association, the program emphasizes adaptive leadership, population health, systems thinking, and community engagement. Since its inception, 119 midcareer leaders from public health, primary care, and tribal/community health have participated, with 84% applying learned skills to workplace or community projects. The curriculum employs case-based learning and reflective peer groups to foster cross-sector understanding, and evaluation data indicate improved collaboration, expanded networks, and increased leadership confidence among participants.
