Abstract

This article focuses on identifying distinct Executive Planning Styles (EPS) using the Tower of London-Drexel (TOLDX) test, a standardized measure of executive planning and problem-solving. Analyzing normative data from 990 participants aged 7 to 80 in the United States and Canada, four EPS were defined based on initiation time and performance scores: Q1 Efficient-Fast (rapid, advanced planning), Q2 Efficient-Slow (deliberate, strategic planning), Q3 Inefficient-Fast (impulsive, nonstrategic planning), and Q4 Inefficient-Slow (limited planning with trial-and-error problem-solving). This four-quadrant model enhances the clinical and empirical understanding of executive planning as a complex neuropsychological function.
