Abstract
A recent study conducted by Islamic Azad University explored the effectiveness of combining interpersonal and social rhythm therapy (IPSRT) with motivational interviewing (MI) in reducing symptoms of major depression with anxiety distress. IPSRT, originally designed for bipolar disorder, focuses on improving mood and preventing relapse by addressing biological and social rhythms and interpersonal skills. The study involved two participants with low vision who underwent 12 weekly therapy sessions, with follow-up evaluations at 2, 1, and 3 months. The results indicated that the combined therapy approach led to clinically and statistically significant reductions in depression and anxiety symptoms. This research suggests that IPSRT combined with MI can be effective in treating major depression and associated anxiety. [Extracted from the article]
