Abstract
The article discusses research on Avoidant Personality Disorder (AvPD) and the effectiveness of Metacognitive Interpersonal Therapy in Group (MIT-G) as a treatment option. Conducted at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway, the study involved 56 patients with AvPD undergoing MIT-G, which was compared to a control group of 154 patients receiving standard outpatient therapies. Results indicated significant improvements in personality functioning, anxiety and depression symptoms, and group relationships for those in the MIT-G group, although the study's nonrandomized design limits causal inferences. The findings suggest that MIT-G may offer substantial clinical benefits for individuals with AvPD. [Extracted from the article]
