Abstract
The article focuses on the narrative experiences of individuals undergoing lower limb amputation due to chronic disease, explored through a qualitative phenomenological study involving 13 participants in Turkey. The main theme identified was "Dead End," encompassing sub-themes of loss, negative feelings, life changes, and adaptation to a new life, highlighting the complex emotional and social challenges faced during and after amputation. Participants reported intense negative emotions such as shock, anger, guilt, and social isolation, alongside the importance of coping mechanisms including rehabilitation, social support, communication with other amputees, and religious beliefs in their adjustment process. The study underscores the need for comprehensive psychosocial support and tailored interventions to aid rehabilitation and mental health in individuals with lower limb amputation.
