Abstract
If not all essays teach us something new about Austen, they certainly lead us to well-known places through different and exciting routes - as Lau does in her chapter by confirming Catherine Morland's development through cognitive science. Not only will this approach shed light on the novels, but modern mind-brain research will also benefit from Jane Austen's insights. Can Jane Austen's novels be illuminated by modern developments in neuroscience and cognitive psychology?. [Extracted from the article]
