Abstract
The article discusses the issue of school refusal within the context of a global youth mental health crisis, emphasizing the need for a systemic analysis that includes family and social factors. The authors argue that the current understanding of school refusal is overly focused on individual psychopathology and neglects critical influences such as eco-anxiety and the impact of digital environments on adolescents. They highlight the importance of recognizing the bi-directional relationship between a child's behavior and family dynamics, as well as the need for clinicians to remain vigilant about potential abuse. The authors suggest that while existing intervention programs at schools are valuable, they should be framed within a broader systemic context. [Extracted from the article]
