Abstract

The article examines the emergence of Positive Behavior Support as a humane alternative to aversive behavior modification techniques for individuals with severe disabilities. Topics include the ethical foundations of nonaversive interventions, key principles of behavior support systems; and the evolution of PBS as a best practice standard.
