Abstract
With the declining influence of liberal parties, such as the DDP, the SPD eventually became the key republican bulwark against antisemitism. Bebel's intervention marked the beginning of the continuous struggle of the SPD against antisemitism in Germany throughout the Wilhelmine period and during the Weimar Republic. As Dietrich highlights, parts of the trade union movement and the party were susceptible to antisemitism, which became a source of concern for the party leadership. [Extracted from the article]
