Abstract

The article focuses on a study that investigates various types of public place violence, expanding beyond the commonly recognized link to the night-time economy and alcohol-influenced male aggression. Utilizing latent class analysis, researchers examined 500 police-reported public assaults in Copenhagen, Denmark, identifying five distinct event types of public violence. These include excessively violent behaviors, revenge among acquaintances, weapon use with severe injuries, and disrespect encounters in everyday situations. The findings aim to enhance understanding of violence dynamics and inform crime prevention strategies, although the preprint has not yet undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
