Abstract

This article explores strategies for achieving New Year’s resolutions, with insights from three books that offer updated approaches to goal setting. Author Caroline Adams Miller in her book Big Goals emphasizes science-backed frameworks like goal-setting theory while addressing structural inequalities; Anne-Laure Le Cunff advocates for replacing rigid systems with curiosity-driven “growth loops” and embracing failure in her book Tiny Experiments; and in his book Reset, Dan Heath suggests leveraging systemic insights and small adjustments for meaningful progress. The takeaway is to prioritize realistic, fulfilling goals, focus on incremental improvements, and balance productivity with well-being.
