Abstract

A young leader of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) in Kerala has been expelled from the party following allegations of accepting a bribe for a position in the state Public Service Commission. The leader, K. Pramod, was accused of collecting the first installment of a bribe totaling around Rs 22 lakh. The issue has gained attention and even reached the Assembly, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stating that appropriate action will be taken if any wrongdoing is found. Pramod maintains his innocence and plans to protest outside the complainant's house. The involvement of CM Vijayan's son-in-law in the matter has further complicated the situation. The opposition parties claim that Pramod is a small player in a larger corruption scheme. [Extracted from the article]
