Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the relationship between neuroticism and health outcomes, particularly morbidity and mortality. Conducted with 483,916 participants from the UK Biobank, the research found that high neuroticism was linked to an increased risk of various diseases, while showing a decreased risk of cancer and all-cause mortality. The study identified three neuroticism clusters—worry, depressed affect, and sensitivity to environmental stress and adversity (SESA)—with depressed affect being particularly detrimental to health transitions. The findings suggest that neuroticism may play a complex role in health, offering insights for mortality prevention programs for individuals with multimorbidity. [Extracted from the article]
