Abstract
The article "Hydrate While You Wait" discusses a quality improvement intervention implemented in a burn center to reduce fasting times and patient discomfort before procedures. The intervention involved asking patients to rank their hunger and thirst levels, setting hydration cut-off times, and designing a preoperative fasting order sticker. Data collected before and after the intervention showed a significant reduction in fasting times without any adverse outcomes, improving the preoperative experience for burn patients. The study highlights the importance of implementing quality improvement interventions in burn care settings to enhance patient care.
