Abstract

The article focuses on the motion studies of industrial engineers Frank (1868–1924) and Lillian Gilbreth (1878–1972), whose research laid the foundation for modern motion capture technology. Topics include their invention of the cyclegraph technique to analyze motion, Lillian Gilbreth's advancements in industrial and domestic efficiency, and the evolution from light-trace photography to today's digital motion capture systems.
