Abstract

The article discusses research on the impact of personality traits on adherence to prophylactic swallowing exercises (PSE) among patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) undergoing (chemo)radiotherapy. Conducted at the University of Antwerp, the study found that the personality trait of openness significantly influences adherence rates to PSE, although the effect size was small and likely not clinically relevant. Other traits, including extraversion, neuroticism, conscientiousness, and altruism, did not show significant relationships with adherence. This research represents the first exploration of how personality characteristics affect adherence to PSE in HNC patients. [Extracted from the article]
