Abstract
This article focuses on the growing specialty of forensic neuropsychology, emphasizing the need for foundational education and training to prepare practitioners and trainees for forensic casework. It highlights key topics such as ethical considerations, expert testimony, performance and symptom validity testing, and competency to stand trial evaluations within forensic settings. The article also reviews contested issues in traumatic brain injury litigation, including the methodological rigor of studies on long-term cognitive impairment and dementia risk following brain injury. Finally, it provides resources for further education and encourages ongoing professional development to enhance competency in forensic neuropsychology.
