Abstract

The article discusses the history of the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health (JPHCOPH) at Georgia Southern University and its efforts to strengthen the health of rural and underserved communities by reducing inequalities through excellence in teaching, community engagement, research and professional service. Topics include the establishment of JPHCOPH, the challenges it faces as well as its strategy for promoting public health as a career option.
