Abstract

The US Supreme Court is divided over the creation of the nation's first publicly funded religious charter school, with conservative justices leaning towards allowing religious schools to participate in Oklahoma's program. Liberal justices argue that states should be able to establish public secular schools without funding religious education. The case could impact charter school systems nationwide and federal laws that disperse funds to programs. The court is expected to rule on the case, Oklahoma Statewide Charter School Board v. Drummond, by July. [Extracted from the article]
