Abstract
This article examines the pervasive and multifaceted impact of trauma on the mind, body, and spirit, emphasizing its persistence across the lifespan and its complex effects on brain development, emotional health, behavior, and spiritual life. It highlights that trauma is endemic within Christian faith and communities, noting that even Jesus Christ bore the scars of trauma after his resurrection, illustrating the ongoing presence of trauma despite healing. The article discusses recovery as a gradual, iterative process involving both conventional therapeutic approaches and the work of the Holy Spirit, while cautioning against simplistic notions of complete healing. It underscores the critical role of Christian community and sustained relational support in trauma recovery, aligning with psychological research that identifies social support as a key factor in healing.
