Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive overview of key developments in posthumanism during 2024, organized into three sections: surveys of the field, pedagogy and research, and posthumanism in literature and culture. It highlights critical posthumanism’s engagement with concepts such as the decentering of the human, personhood, and entanglements with nonhuman entities, drawing on works by philosophers like Stefan Herbrechter and interdisciplinary studies spanning Indigenous knowledge, feminist posthumanism, disability studies, and environmental ethics. The pedagogy section examines how posthumanist thought informs educational practices, emphasizing human–nonhuman assemblages, digital mediation, and activist knowledge in schools. The literature and culture section explores posthumanist themes in fiction, poetry, art, and media, including the representation of hybrid bodies, AI, fungi, and animal justice, illustrating the field’s broadening scope and its intersections with ecological and social justice concerns.
