Abstract
"Moro and the Weather Coast: A Revitalization Movement in the Solomon Islands" is a book that explores the origins and mobilization of the Moro Movement on the island of Guadalcanal. The movement advocated for island-wide sovereignty called Isatabu, which remains popular today. The book highlights the neglect of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate government and the churches as contributing factors to the movement's formation. The author, Çoker O'Connor, conducted ethnographic research in 1965 and 1966 to provide a detailed understanding of the movement. The book also discusses the decline of the movement and its continuities and discontinuities with the Isatabu Freedom Movement. Overall, "Moro and the Weather Coast" offers valuable insights into the dynamics of the region and its engagement with discourses on rights and individual autonomy. [Extracted from the article]
