Abstract
The article focuses on recent trends in Christianity in Western and Northern Europe and the USA, based on data from 2020 to 2024. In Western Europe, Catholicism remains the largest Christian group, though both Catholic identity and church attendance have declined significantly, with Protestants and Evangelicals constituting smaller proportions of the population. In the USA, Pew Research Center data show a decline in Christian affiliation from 78% in 2007 to around 62% in 2024, with younger adults being less religious than older generations; however, this decline may have recently leveled off. The article also highlights the rise of online church services since 2020, which have helped maintain engagement during COVID-19 restrictions, and notes the complex relationship between religion and political affiliation in the US.
