Abstract
In the article "Postmortem Opportunity: A Biblical and Theological Assessment of Salvation After Death," theologian James Beilby explores the question of the destiny of those who never heard the gospel of Christ or heard a distorted version of it. Beilby argues for his own version of a postmortem opportunity theory, in which individuals who never heard the gospel or heard a distorted version of it will be given a chance to repent and believe in Christ after death. He supports his arguments with interdisciplinary research, including philosophy, biblical studies, and church history. While Beilby's work is thought-provoking and challenges long-held beliefs, it is important to note that he argues from within the Arminian tradition and does not thoroughly address how his theory could fit within other theological traditions.
