Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the impact of polygyny on aging among Ghanaian men in the Manso Nkwanta District of the Ashanti Region. Utilizing a life course perspective and a descriptive phenomenological approach, the research involved in-depth interviews with 33 men aged 60 and above who have been in polygynous marriages for at least a decade. The findings indicate that while polygyny can provide benefits such as social prestige and emotional support, it also exacerbates vulnerabilities in later life, including health issues and financial insecurity. The study emphasizes the need for culturally sensitive policies and community support systems to address these complexities. [Extracted from the article]
