Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the influence of religious beliefs on mental health, specifically within Christian denominations. Conducted by researchers at Calvin University, the study developed a new measure called Beliefs about Salvation (BAS), which assesses views on salvation through divine grace and human actions. The research involved a sample of 1,556 participants, primarily from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Protestant Christians, and found that while the BAS demonstrated reliability and validity, it showed limited associations with other mental health measures, except for a correlation with religious legalism. The study suggests that psychological research could benefit from exploring various aspects of religiosity and their psychological impacts. [Extracted from the article]
