Abstract
This article explores how everyday bravery, especially in parenting and leadership, involves making small, courageous decisions amid uncertainty rather than dramatic heroic acts. It highlights three recent books that frame courage as a developable skill through practical strategies, personal narratives, and incremental actions. "How to Be Bold," by Harvard Business School professor Ranjay Gulati, suggests that courage can be adopted by anyone through an array of strategies known as the 9 C's. which include coping, connection and commitment. "Fired Up," by Shannon Watts who founded the gun-control advocacy group Moms Demand Action, endeavors to help people at inflection points in their lives find the fire inside them to spark personal transformation. Leadership development expert Juan Bendaña provides a primer on how to build bravery muscles in his book "Confident by Choice." Ultimately, the article emphasizes that bravery grows through community, self-awareness, and purposeful risk-taking in both ordinary and extraordinary circumstances.
