Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Defense Health Agency explores the overlapping roles and collaborative opportunities between military chaplains and mental health clinicians in addressing mental health concerns among service members. The study highlights the importance of spirituality in the well-being and readiness of service members and acknowledges that chaplains are often the first point of contact for service members seeking help due to accessibility, confidentiality, and reduced stigma. The research suggests that greater collaboration between chaplains and mental health clinicians could be beneficial for the care of service members, and provides examples of military programs that integrate spiritual and psychological health constructs. The study has been peer-reviewed and published in Psychological Services. [Extracted from the article]
