Abstract
This article focuses on socio-cultural practices and sexuality education among families in rural Ghana, examining how parents and adolescents aged 16–19 discuss sexual health topics. The study found that family discussions primarily emphasize moral and social norms such as hygiene and abstinence, with parents' educational levels influencing openness to diverse sexuality topics. Adolescents who received sexuality information from parents tended to hold more conservative sexual values compared to those who relied on peers or social media, who exhibited more liberal attitudes. The research highlights that socio-cultural norms, religious values, and gender disparities shape attitudes toward sexuality education, suggesting that empowering families with accurate knowledge and creating supportive environments are essential for addressing young people's sexual health needs.
