Abstract

The article focuses on a study examining changing sexual attitudes in China from 2010 to 2021, utilizing hierarchical age-period-cohort analysis on data from the Chinese General Social Survey. Conducted by researchers from Shaanxi Normal University, the study found that attitudes toward premarital and same-sex activities became less restrictive over time, while attitudes toward extramarital sex remained stable. Notably, generational differences emerged, with those born after 1980 showing decreased restrictiveness toward premarital and same-sex activities but increased restrictiveness toward extramarital sex. The research highlights significant sex disparities in attitudes, particularly with women being more tolerant of same-sex practices but more restrictive regarding premarital sex. The study aims to provide insights for future research and policy in the Chinese context. [Extracted from the article]
